Health Hacks: Taking Care Of Your Mind, Body and Spirit

Taking care of your mind, body and spirit is the foundation to live a happy and healthy life. This is such a fun topic because you can truly make it your own. Yes, it’s quite trendy right now to “hack” your life but just remember that there are no quick fixes and you need to take a holistic approach to lead a healthy life. Once you have the tools to hack your lifestyle, it’s fun to experiment with different techniques and see what works best for your daily routine. The most important health hack is to learn how to listen to your body!! This is number one and will set the tone for the rest of your day. Be in tune with yourself and take inventory of your body. If you’re tired, remember to give yourself extra love and rest. It’s all about good old fashion balance when taking care of your mind, body and spirit.

Health hacks are so helpful and will make you feel great from the inside out. Start your mornings off on the right track… this is HUGE. Make sure to give yourself time to meditate every single morning. Find a nice, comfortable place to sit and turn inward. Focus on your breath and let your thoughts slowly float away. The morning is a great time to journal – set intentions and manifest what you would like the day to bring, or think big! What do you want to bring into your life?

Another great morning health hack is to add healthy fats to your breakfast AND your coffee! Some healthy fats to include in your cold brew on these hot summer days include Ghee or MCT oil. Feel free to add a little protein power or almond butter if you feel like you need a little extra boost. Again, listen to your body. The healthy fats in your coffee will help the caffeine metabolize slowly and more sustainable throughout the day. The mind-gut connection is very strong so keeping your belly happy will make you feel balanced all around.

The morning is a great time for movement. Move anyway that feels best for you and get your heart rate up a few times a week. This could mean going for a long walk with your dog, taking a yoga class or something more intense such as a spin class. Just remember that whatever physical activity you decide to do, make sure that you are having fun! This is essential to our overall well-being and will help boost mood and reduce stress. If high-intensity workouts aren’t your thing, don’t worry just do what makes you best but remember to try new things and shake it up!

Creating an evening or bedtime routine is just as important (maybe even more!) since sleep is the most incredibly healing remedy in the world. Making time to slow day from the day and prepare for a long, deep sleep can sometimes feel like a challenge after a long day. Make time for yourself and shut down your devices hours before bed. Yes,… hours! Maybe your evening routine includes a cup of tea, curling up with a book or catching up with your partner after a long day. Having a bedtime routine nourishes us from within so that we can be well rested and ready to hit the ground running in the morning! This will enhance productivity, sharpen your focus and will deeply impact all aspects of your life.
